For practitioners who are interested in gaining a better understanding of how to help clients with Misophonia, and joining our provider network, we have created an online continuing education course through Drexel University. If you would like to be listed as part of the Misophonia provider network, please take the online course, and, upon completion, email admin@jjbcounseling.com. Our goal is to train enough practitioners on Misophonia that every sufferer can access an experienced professional in their local area! See the description for the course below:

"Using narrated PowerPoint slides and a podcast-style interview, 'The Helpers Guide to Understanding Misophonia' is a 2.5-hour long continuing education course that aims to provide an introduction to Misophonia for clinicians. Though the term literally means 'hatred of sounds,' it is best characterized as a neurophysiological disorder with emotional, cognitive, and behavioral components, which often result in affective distress. Misophonia causes individuals to experience aversive reactivity to certain pattern-based sounds that most people would find innocuous. As this under-researched disorder becomes more popularized in the press, clinicians should be prepared to encounter clients of all ages who suffer from this disorder. Unfortunately, no evidence-based treatment yet exists for Misophonia; however, through this course, clinicians will begin to learn the strategies they can use to help clients learn about and cope with their sound sensitivity."

Duration: 2.5 Hours
Fee: $25
